Courses

Fundamentals of Recreation and Leisure

Sample topics include:

Recreation philosophy, trends and socio-cultural aspects. This course is equivalent to Langara College RECR 1160 and University of Victoria EPHE 243 and will be waived for students that have successfully completed either program. Students with equivalent to 10 years full-time employment in the recreation field may apply through a prior learning assessment to have this course waived. An application and essay will be required.

Online Campus - online study tutorials and supports

Can be started at anytime, must be completed in 12 months.

Self-Mastery

Sample topics include:

  • Leadership & communication styles, self- awareness, emotionalintelligence, effective communication, active listening, effective writing skills, delegating, critical thinking and leader vs manager.
  • The focus will be on developing soft leadership skills in a recreation environment. The Program encourages peer mentoring and professional relationship building. Interactive and fun

Sample topics include:

  • Power & influence, leading team & organization, effective feedback & feed forward, difficult conversations, hiring/ interviewing practices, budgeting, healthy work environments, workplace legislation and planning. Students will be assigned team projects.
  • After each 3-day session, students will be required to complete an online student course assessment
